Pregnancy Cravings, Texas Style
When this beautiful momma, Colleen McNeill and I started planning her maternity shoot, we both agreed it would be so fun to start out at Whataburger. If you’ve been pregnant in Texas you’ve likely found yourself in the drive thru of Whataburger in the middle of the night. Just sayin’. This was a great way to capture her pregnancy craving. So that’s where we started her maternity session. She ordered her favorite bacon cheeseburger with fries and we got down to business, laughing the whole time, as I did a maternity session in the lobby of Whataburger. I love trying out things that are a little out of the box and creative.
Colleen showed up in this gorgeous red dress with that elegant train just as it began to storm outside. At that point, we decided we would have to make the very best of the weather since baby James would be making his appearance anytime now. Luckily, as we finished up at Whataburger the rain stopped. Our next stop was Everman Park in Downtown Abilene for some classic maternity shots.
Everman Park is one of my favorite locations in Abilene, because it offers so much versatility. There are several wonderful spots for shooting. When we arrived, even though the rain had stopped, we realized that her train was going to get soaked quickly by all the fresh rain on the ground. That’s ok though, I love those kinds of details that really tell the story of the session. Sometimes having a vision of the perfect weather, the greatest lighting, or the best spot in the park during a session can cloud your view. You might miss out on those moments that just happen, when the plans change, the storm rolls in, and the train gets soaked. Ha-ha!! If we just roll with things as they come, we might be able to find a little magic. I believe that’s exactly what we did!
Colleen didn’t mind getting her dress wet and was willing to roll with it. She was so easy going and fun to work with. I love the way these photos turned out. I totally recommend a little Whataburger to start out any maternity session. If you’re pregnant, get in touch so we can plan your maternity session too!
