Graduation for all our Class of 2019 seniors is here! Congratulations you guys!! I’m so proud. I couldn’t let this time go by without sharing some photos of a couple seniors. First up, is Wiley High School Grad, Caleb Tucker.
I see such a bright future for this guy. He was so kind and lovely to work with. He may not have been quite as excited for these photos as his mom and I were, but he was a great sport. Here are some of my favorite pictures from his senior portrait session.
Hard to believe summer is basically here. I know many seniors will be enjoying their last summer before going off to college in the fall but there will also be those that are already working, whether they’re trying to decide what’s next or they’ve found a career path that doesn’t require college. Maybe they’ve even chosen to serve in our military. No matter what path they’ve chosen, I pray that they follow their dreams and I wish each of them the best!
Many years ago, when I graduated from high school, I knew just what I wanted and basically thought I knew all there was to know. As soon as I turned 18, I hopped on a plane to Washington state to marry Owen. I was just a small-town Texas girl who’d never been on a plane or even outside my little Texas/Louisiana bubble. Still, it was the best thing I could’ve done for myself. Owen and I have done so much growing up in these years since. I wonder how much different things would be if I could go back and give some advice to 18-year-old me.
To all you seniors who are taking the next steps in this big adventure called life, here are a few things I wish I’d learned way back when. First off, you don’t have it all figured out and that’s ok. Be willing to ask for advice and listen to those around you who have your best interest at heart. Also, as the years go by you will grow and change. Your friends, favorite music, hobbies, all of it will change to some degree. Don’t make permanent decisions for your life without thinking about it for a while. That tattoo of the profound Lady Gaga lyrics may not seem so profound in 10 years. You’re probably thinking, great another tattoo speech. It’s not about the tattoo… It’s a good example of a permanent decision. Just stop and think. Finally, take care of yourself. I wish I’d eaten better, worked out, spoken to a therapist about my anxiety issues, so many things. I think so often we associate self-care with selfishness. It has taken me years to realize life is so much better when I’m taking care of myself.
